Our history

Nutrilab was a natural outgrowth of the Schouten family’s business activities. The laboratory’s origins date back to 1947 when it was still a part of Schouten’s production facility. As a reminder of those days, some of the oldest samples have been preserved. The laboratory was founded on 5 December 1956. The laboratory initially inspected the raw materials, grains and animal feed marketed by Schouten. From 1975 to 1990, the laboratory not only analysed products from Schouten but also samples from Schouten’s customers as an additional service to clients.

In 1990, the laboratory became a seperate business under the name S/G Nutrilab B.V. Since 1995, Nutrilab is registered as an ISO 17925-certified company and is an accredited laboratory with the RvA under registration number L136. In 2002, S/G Nutrilab B.V. continued under the name Nutrilab B.V.

Since the founding of Nutrilab, the laboratory has developed into a specialised commercial laboratory with a clear vision of food safety. Thanks to a customer-oriented approach and continued investments in expertise and technology, Nutrilab has grown into a partner in food safety for business and organisations active in the agrifood sector. Nutrilab is an important player in research related to nutritional value, contaminant, allergen and GMO testing. Nutrilab also carries out extensive microbiological and microscopic research. Other services include shelf-life testing (challenge tests), cross-contamination and homogeneity testing, marketability reports, label checks and a variety of other types of analyses.
